The Olde English Pub is a beautiful old school pub in the heart of downtown Albany. The restaurant is stunning inside and both the food and service were great during our visit for dinner. We’ll definitely be back to the establishment next time we are in town!

If you are staying at the Hyatt Place or looking for somewhere to eat/drink/hang before a show at the Palace, The Olde English Pub & Pantry is the place to be. Although the method for seating guests is a bit awkward, (enter the front of the restaurant, see bartender, then exit the way you came in and walk around back to meet someone who comes out a kitchen door,) the pub food was EXCELLENT! Since I couldn’t decide what to order, I had a bit of everything. The French onion soup was flavorful and cheesy with extra bread on the side. Order the hand meat pies, Sweeney Todd can’t compete! But the best food item that I had was the classic fish & chips. This was perhaps the best fish for this style dish I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to London several times. The fried batter was flaky and tasty while the white fish was soft and juicy. What a delight! Well done! Oh, and the bartender makes awesome cocktails.Tip her well!

Excellent fish and chips, better than any I had in London in 2 years. Specialty drink menu was diverse and the 4 I sampled were all tasty. Atmosphere is like a nice Brit pub. Server was attentive, outgoing and professional. We’ll be back.

we had lunch here on our way to Montreal from New York. Our server was Cheyenne who was extremely professional, pleasant and efficient. Food quality was excellent. I highly recommend poached pear salad. Portion size was huge. Very cozy ambience.

A+ atmosphere, however beware all of the bees in the beer garden out back!
Came here after work on a Thursday, service wasn’t great, our server asked us several times for our order even though we wanted to enjoy our drinks first (it was 4pm, too early for dinner!), then once we placed an order was nowhere to be seen. We needed more water, sauces, etc. and I had to track down someone else for help. The food is a little pricey especially given the poor service, however the fish and chips is greatly improved over their pre-covid variety which was always too greasy for my taste. Im glad I gave it another try!
